The Request
After working together on a short video grant application, VPLC commissioned Owl Ears to produce a short documentary to present at their annual conference. They specifically wanted to feature the legacy of legal aid lawyers dating back to the 70s, as many were retiring. As they planned their conference, VPLC decided to add promotion, event, and photobooth coverage to their services.
The Process
During the 3 months prior to the conference, Owl Ears filmed 6 interviews with legends in the Virginia Legal Aid Film, took hi-res photos of their historical records & news clippings, and edited their accounts together to build a short documentary. During the three day conference, Owl Ears photographed training sessions & lectures, an executive board meeting, a dance party with live music, and a 70s-themed photobooth. Our documentary was aired during the Friday night gala dinner.
